Promising horses that could make strong investments for 2024 and beyond

By Editorial team | Updated February 22, 2024 (Published 22/2/2024)

With the relatively recent establishment of part-ownership of racehorses, people of various budgets could be looking to invest in potential champions in 2024 and beyond.

Here are some horses that have strong track records and reputable trainers which means they are well positioned to secure further success. They could make solid investments for anybody looking to break into the horse racing industry.

Scampi

RaceShare is emerging as a strong player in the horse racing syndicate world. They offer the ability to obtain part racehorse ownership in the form of low-cost shares and their standout horse is Scampi – whom anyone can become a partial owner of.

Scampi has already won five races in its almost four-year career so far, and at the age of five more wins could well remain in the tank. The stallion has a Timeform rating of 103 after several strong runs this year which included a landmark victory at the Shergar Cup held at Ascot in August.

The horse is trained by the highly reputable Andrew Balding who is renowned as one of the greatest British trainers – both currently and concerning the sport’s overall history.

Balding himself is a three-time classic winner, with the most recent having come at the 2000 Guineas with Chaldean in 2023.

Ultimately, Scampi has experienced its greatest year to date in 2023, and it could well enter a similar form in 2024 backed by the tutorship of Balding.

The trainer has on several occasions helped underdogs to major triumphs at the classic events, perhaps Scampi could be his next to make a name for itself worldwide.

La Pulga

La Pulga won its first race this year at Hamilton in June, although its stocks have not quickly taken off just yet. The horse went on to record several runner-up finishes throughout the year as it threatened to establish itself as a top competitor within British racing.

The horse has a Timeform rating of 94, which is indicative of its consistent form across 2023, and aged just four, it may not have reached its peak ability just yet.

Perhaps most intriguingly La Pulga is trained by Charlie Johnston who is the owner of a remarkable record for 2023. He managed to lead 114 different horses to victory, which is a feat no other British or Irish trainer got near to matching.

La Pulga is a horse with a clear sense of raw potential and is led by a trainer who tends to deliver victories from almost any horse he gets his hands on.

The horse’s success could be further prolonged in 2024, even a repeat of its 2023 performances could be profitable for investors with prize purses likely to rise again following the new year.

Scampi is an example of a horse that has already reached a strong peak, and investors would be banking on that continuing. While La Pulga is more of a long-term project that is less proven, but could be set to explode in 2024, it has its first victory but a true breakout may still await.
