6 reasons why you need to hire movers and packers instead of your employees during an office move

Congratulations on making a bold move—relocating to a new office address! While moving to a new address is a good thing (especially when it’s for an expansion), there are hurdles that are inevitable during the entire process. One of the most prominent challenges of moving to a new office address is how to stay operational while at it. With that being said, it is needless to say, crucial to hire professional movers to help you transport your company belongings to the new address. Every day that you close shop creates an adverse impact on your cash flow. Plus, your employees can also feel disconnected and unproductive while stuck in the middle of it all.

We understand that you want to keep the office operational but that can be a bad idea. You probably have a ton of things to do but including your staff in the mix can only complicate things if unmanaged well. Below are some reasons why using your staff while in the process of moving is not recommended.

Your staff will lose concentration

Imagine hiring movers and packers  on the moving date and still have your staff deal with tasks related to the move. We assure you, it’s gonna be chaotic. Every person in your team plays a vital role in your company. Whether they are employed to work on sales, advertising, or crew management, they need to have their eyes focused on their tasks to make your business prosper.

When you include moving responsibilities on top of their existing company duties, you run the risk of having distracted employees. Losing track of their targets becomes inevitable and this is when things will start to crumble down. Let them work on one thing at a time and pay for cheap movers to help you with the relocation.

Your employees do not have a single idea on how to do an office move appropriately

While your crew may have done moving from one apartment to another at least once in their lives, that doesn’t mean they’re knowledgeable when it comes to office moving. It can be overwhelming for them to sort, pack, and set up IT stuff and office furniture, especially when they haven’t been a part of a corporate relocation before. You also have to keep things faster and set up as soon as possible so it’s best to hire professional packers and movers instead.

Company-owned furniture pieces are fragile which need extreme care

Laptops, printers, fax machines, and desktop computers are fragile pieces of furniture that need extreme care during the course of transportation. You wouldn’t want to arrive at the new address with broken or damaged office properties, right? If you leave it to the hands of inexperienced movers such as your employees, you may end up paying for more than what you initially planned because of this.

Inexperienced movers, a.k.a. your employees, may incur injuries during the moving process

Another edge of getting professional movers is their ability to lift heavy items accurately. Being able to manoeuvre massive items in tight spaces needs knowledge and the right technique not only because the items need adequate care but also because they avoid having injuries while at work.

That is why using your employees instead of hiring a reputable moving company to save money during a move is a bad idea. Chances are you’re gonna spend more than you should have when an accident happens.

You can get liable

While you may have insurance for different types of losses (whether personal or business insurance) that doesn’t mean that you can act recklessly and put yourself in a delicate situation. When your employees get hurt during the process, you will be required by law to shoulder their hospital bills and also give them compensation for the days that they can’t come to work. You are basically liable in case something bad happens.

Your staff will take a longer time to set up

Put it this way. When you make your staff in charge of the office relocation, you also make it hard for them to get used to the new environment at work. Any setback and delay in any way can hamper the company operations. That is why it’s better to have packers and movers do the job.

Conclusion

Make your employees excited and focus on getting acclimated to the new office instead of adding tasks that they are not trained to do. This will help in creating a seamless transition from the old address to the new one.
