There is no doubt that there are many social media agencies out there that offer impeccable paid promotions. However, for those who are not open to spending and believe in dedicated brand building, we bring you 5 ways to improve organic reach on social media platforms:

Table Of Contents (Quick Links)

  • 1 1. Know your platform
  • 2 2. Optimise your profile
  • 3 3. Focus on quality
  • 4 4. Know when to post
  • 5 5. Engage with your followers

1. Know your platform

It is a known fact that there are many social media platforms out there. But, before you jump on to the social media journey, you need to first decide which platform you wish to join and then you must understand the algorithm of the platform in detail. Every platform is different and so is its algorithm.

2. Optimise your profile

Optimisation is an indispensable element of the virtual space. The same rule applies to social media as well. To make your content and identity visible to your target audience/followers you need to use certain optimisation tactics like having an interesting and simple username, relevant hashtags, engaging bio etc.

3. Focus on quality

Have a pattern, post often, follow the trend and more. These are some of the common suggestions that you would come across often by many. However, here is a piece of useful information. On social media, always choose quality over quantity. In other words, don’t be in a race to post everyday or during a trend. Remember that content is the king. Therefore, focus on the quality of the content.

4. Know when to post

Every social media has a pattern and there is an algorithm that tells you what the peak hours and off time are. In other words, every platform experiences traffic in certain time frames. Understand these platform-specific dynamics and plan your content strategy.

5. Engage with your followers

As mentioned at the start, social media success depends on your followers and followers build when they see a personal connect in the content shared by you. That’s where the element of engagement comes into the scene. To build your organic reach, you must create content that you think people could relate to and you must engage with your followers through comments and shares.

The above pointers are some basic tools to build organic reach.
